Odisha Vigilance arrested Susanta Mallick, Revenue Inspector of Sirijhuli Circle under Gunupur Tahasil, Rayagada district, for taking a Rs 25,000 bribe from an applicant seeking a favourable enquiry report in a mutation case for issuance of Record of Rights (ROR) or land patta.The complainant had applied online through the Revenue and Disaster Management Department portal and paid the required fees. However, Mallick allegedly delayed the process and demanded ₹25,000 to facilitate the issuance of ROR for the applicant’s ancestral land.Acting on the complaint, a Vigilance team laid a trap and caught Mallick red-handed while accepting the bribe in his office. Officials recovered the entire tainted amount from his possession and seized it as evidence.Following the arrest, simultaneous searches began at three locations linked to Mallick from the disproportionate assets angle. Koraput Vigilance Police registered Case No. 16/2026 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.Investigators are examining Mallick’s assets and financial records. Odisha Vigilance reaffirmed its commitment to curbing corruption in public offices through swift and transparent action.
