Khordha: Tightening the noose around the neck of corrupt government officials the Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended the Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Sarana RI Circle under Chilika Tahasil in Khordha district while he was demanding and taking bribe of Rs 20,000.The accused ARI has been identified as Kalilash Chandra Behera.As per reports, a short while ago today Kailash Chandra Behera the Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Sorana RI Circle under Chilika Tahasil was apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 20,000 from a functionary (Complainant) of Chilika Adrabhumi Sangrakshyana of Sorana for furnishing favourable report in respect of some landless villagers including sons of the complainant under RI Sorana for getting land under Vasundhara Yojana of Govt. of Odisha in the R & DM Department.Under this scheme landless people are provided land by Government.The entire bribe money has reportedly been recovered from possession of accused Behera, ARI and seized.Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at two locations of Behera, ARI from DA angle.In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 01/2025 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Kailash Chandra Behera, ARI.It is pertinent to mention here that accused ARI Kailash Chandra Behera was earlier arrested by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No. 11/2016 under PC Act, while demanding and taking bribe of Rs. 5000. The case is now sub-judice.
