Schools to remain closed for three days due to heat wave alert

Jharsuguda: Schools across Jharsuguda district to remain closed for the next three days due to possible heat wave conditions as predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Jharsuguda collector Aboli Sunil Naravane ordered ordered closure of all schools from kindergarten to 12th across the district from tomorrow to till June 25. The Jharsuguda collector’s announcement to close the institutions for the school students came hours after Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari informed that the decision to close schools will be taken within a couple of days following approval from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi. It is to be noted here that on Monday Jharsuguda had recorded 45.4 degree Celsius temperature, which is the highest in Odisha in this summer season till date. Meanwhile, the weather department has predicted that severe heat wave condition is very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jharsuguda tomorrow and similar weather condition is expected to continue till April 26.
