Balasore Youth’s Last Rites Delayed for Two Days Amid Murder Allegations

In a shocking incident from Purushottampur village under Anantapur police limits in Balasore district, the last rites of a young man remain delayed for two days due to murder allegations.The deceased, identified as Dusasan Mallick, reportedly consumed poison following family disputes. Relatives admitted him first to the Soro Community Health Centre and later shifted him to Balasore as his condition worsened. He died while being taken to Cuttack for advanced treatment.After the postmortem, authorities handed over the body to his family. However, the funeral has not taken place because the victim’s grandfather alleged that Dusasan’s in-laws assaulted him and forced him to consume poison. The family demanded the immediate arrest of his wife and brother-in-law before performing the last rites.Police reached the village and tried to mediate, but the situation remains unresolved.
