Balugaon, Sept 4:
The Chilika Sailing Expedition–2025, organized by the 3(O) Naval Unit NCC, Cuttack continued its remarkable journey across the waters of Asia’s largest brackish lagoon. On the first day, the cadets successfully sailed to Kalijai, followed by their arrival at Krushnaprasad on the second day. On the third day of the expedition, the team reached Balugaon, marking another milestone in their adventurous voyage. Each day of the expedition, the cadets are sailing a minimum distance of 20 kilometres across Chilika Lake. Alongside the sailing adventure, they have been conducting social awareness campaigns at every halt. At Kalijai, the campaign focused on cleanliness and environmental protection, at Krushnaprasad, it highlighted health and hygiene; and at Balugaon, cadets spread awareness on biodiversity conservation and sustainable practices.
The expedition is being guided and supervised by Commander Susant Kumar Mohanty, whose leadership and encouragement have inspired the cadets to sail with discipline, determination, and teamwork. The participants expressed enthusiasm as they experienced the thrill of navigation, seamanship, and adventure training amidst the scenic beauty of Chilika.
The 10-day expedition aims to build confidence, endurance, and leadership qualities among the cadets while showcasing the spirit of the NCC and its commitment to nation-building.
