COLOSSUS 8.0: Mechanical Engineering Department Showcases Innovation at GIET University”

Rayagada:(Correspondent):- The Department of Mechanical Engineering, in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Students’ Association (MESA), successfully organized the grand Techno-Cultural Fest “COLOSSUS 8.0” on 31st October 2025, celebrating innovation, creativity, and technical excellence. The event commenced with an enthusiastic welcome address by MESA President Mr. Santosh Kumar Tripathy, followed by an inspiring message from Dr. Kali Charan Rath, Head of the Department, who emphasized the role of such platforms in fostering holistic student development and strengthening both technical and co-curricular competencies. Honourable Pro-Chancellor Dr. Lalit Mohan Patnaik and Honourable Vice-Chancellor Dr. A.V.N.L. Sharma encouraged students to embrace innovation, skill enhancement, and academic excellence for societal and industrial progress, while Registrar Dr. N.V.J. Rao reiterated the evergreen significance of Mechanical Engineering and urged students to explore advanced technologies. Honourable Vice-President Dr. C.D. Panda highlighted the role of engineers in addressing real-world challenges with the right skill-set, and Chief Guest Mr. Manoj Kumar Choudhury, Manager, Mechanical Department, Utkal Alumina International Limited, provided valuable insights on industry trends, emerging technologies, internships, and essential professional skills. The fest featured prototype exhibitions, poster and paper presentations, sports events, and a range of technical and cultural activities, coordinated effectively by faculty members Mr. S. P. Khadanga, Mr. G. K. Mohanta, Mr. Manas Ranjan Panda, Mr. Nalinikant Panda, Dr. Sukant Nayak, Mr. Aurobindo Panda, and Mrs. Simarani Behera. Winners were honoured with certificates, medals, trophies, and cash prizes for their exceptional performances. The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Sasank Sekhar Panda, who expressed sincere gratitude to the GIET University administration, distinguished guests, faculty members, non-teaching staff members, students, media partners, and all contributors for their invaluable support and active participation in making “COLOSSUS 8.0” a grand and memorable success.
