CRS Inspects Newly Laid Second Line Between Manabar–Jarati Stations

Bhubaneswar,10 February 2026Shri Brijesh Kumar Mishra, Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), South Eastern Circle, conducted a detailed statutory inspection of the newly constructed second railway line between Manabar and Jarati stations on 09 February 2026. The inspected section, spanning about 10 km, forms part of the Kottavalasa–Kirandul Doubling Project under Waltair Division of East Coast Railway.The newly laid second line is equipped with 60 kg rails and includes two major bridges all constructed in conformity with 25 tonne axle load standards. The infrastructure has been designed to support higher speeds, heavier axle loads, and improved safety standards in line with Indian Railways’ modernisation goals. Comprehensive statutory inspection, including detailed examination of track, bridges, signalling arrangements and other safety parameters, was carried out. Speed trials were conducted successfully without any adverse observations, following which the section has been authorized for full fledged commissioning.The successful completion and clearance of this section stand as a testimony to the coordinated efforts of the Civil Engineering, Construction, Signal & Telecom, and Electrical departments, working in close collaboration with the Operations and Traffic Planning teams of Waltair Division.Commissioning of this second line will significantly enhance sectional capacity, facilitate smoother and faster movement of passenger and freight trains, reduce detention and congestion, and improve overall operational flexibility. The doubling will also play a vital role in meeting the growing transportation demands of the region, particularly mineral and industrial traffic, while ensuring safer and more reliable train operations on the Kottavalasa–Kirandul section.During the inspection, the CRS was accompanied by Shri Lalit Bohra, Divisional Railway Manager, along with senior officers from the Construction and Railway departments and Divisional officers.
