Cuttack, September 2, 2025: Strengthening its commitment to rural prosperity and sustainable farming, Dalmia Bharat Foundation (DBF), the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Dalmia Bharat Ltd., has promoted vegetable cultivation on 25 cent (¼ acre) plots in Cuttack under its flagship Gram Parivartan Project. This intensive farming model enables farmers to grow a variety of vegetables on small plots using efficient water management and succession planting, thereby maximizing yield and household income.
As part of the initiative, DBF distributed 1 HP electrical motor pump to a community of farmers, providing them with reliable irrigation support to improve crop productivity. The intervention follows DBF’s unique 50/50 contribution model, where the cost is shared equally between the Foundation and the farmers, ensuring both affordability and shared responsibility.
With this distribution, DBF has so far supported 470 farmers in Cuttack with motor pumps, contributing significantly to sustainable agriculture, improved incomes, and nutritional security in the region. The event was graced by the presence of Sri Pankaj Gupta, Unit Head KCW, and Sri Sudhir Ranjan Mohanty, HR Head KCW, who encouraged the farmers to adopt improved practices for long-term prosperity.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Pankaj Gupta, Unit Head Kapilas Cement Works, said, “Farmers are the backbone of our nation, sowing life into the soil and nurturing growth for generations to come. Through the Gram Parivartan Project, we aim to empower them with resources and opportunities that build resilience and ensure sustained prosperity. Vegetable farmers not only grow food but also cultivate health, hope, and sustainability for their communities.”
Launched to drive holistic rural development, the Gram Parivartan Project focuses on interventions across agriculture, water conservation, skill development, horticulture, livestock and microenterprises. By creating self-reliant villages, the project enables communities to strengthen livelihoods while building long-term resilience. In Odisha, thousands of families have already benefitted from the programme, witnessing transformative changes in their farming practices and quality of life.
Through such initiatives, DBF continues to reaffirm its vision of creating sustainable livelihoods and empowering rural India through multi-dimensional development programmes.
