Don’t Pull the Chain without Reason—Your Journey, Everyone’s Pu

East Coast Railway (ECoR), Khurda Road Division, urges all passengers and citizens to refrain from misusing the Alarm Chain Pulling (ACP) facility on trains. Frequent and unnecessary use of alarm chains leads to train delays, disrupts punctuality and causes inconvenience to thousands of fellow passengers.

On 24th September 2025 alone, Khurda Road Division recorded 10 cases of Alarm Chain Pulling, resulting in five arrests for unlawful chain pulling. The ACP mechanism is strictly for genuine emergencies—such as medical needs, fire hazards, or passenger safety. Misuse not only interrupts smooth train operations but also carries strict penalties under the Railway Act.

ACP Incident Statistics – Khurda Road Division:

In 2024, 1,761 people were arrested for chain pulling and fined a total of ₹8,14,800/-

In 2025 (up to 24th September), 1,480 individuals have already faced arrest for ACP cases

During September 2025 alone, 78 arrests were made, causing repeated train detentions and loss of punctuality

East Coast Railway continues to run awareness campaigns to educate passengers about the negative consequences of alarm chain misuse. Any unnecessary use of this facility invites penal action and hardship for other travelers.

ECoR appeals for the cooperation of all passengers and the public to prevent the misuse of Alarm Chains in trains. Public support is crucial for safe, punctual, and smooth train operations, ensuring a comfortable and reliable journey for everyone.
