Damodar Mishra of Brahmani village, Manamunda police station, Kantamal block of Boudh district, Jaloe village, Baunsuni, , Police station of Boudh dist., got his daughter Runu married to Lincoln Panigrahi, son of Uttam Panigrahi, according to Vedic rituals on 20-04-2025. Five lakh rupees along with TV, freeze, cooler, etc., and all daily necessities were demanded as dowry by the groom’s family. According to that demand, the Runu ‘s father submitted all the goods along with all the goods on 21-04-25 and also paid one lakh rupees on phone pay. Later on 23-04-25, the Runu’s father went to the groom’s house and gave three lakh rupees in cash, but was unable to pay the remaining two lakh rupees. From that day, however, a dark cloud came in the fate of the Runu. Four days after the wedding, the husband and mother-in-law started physically and mentally abusing the daughter Runu. The abuse reached its peak. As a result, on 17-02-26, the eight-month pregnant daughter died due to physical torture and died along with her unborn child. This was reported by the father of the daughter Runu, Damodar, and uncle Bishwambar, in front of the Sonepur police station. The investigation of this incident has been given to SI Anil Kumar Behera. In this regard, a case has been registered at the Sonepur police station under the basis of the case number 57/18/02/2026 U/s -85/80/103(l)/3(5) BNS/4 DP Act and the accused husband Lincoln (31) and mother-in-law Shantilata (50) were arrested on 18/02/26. Information has been received that the court trial was held on 19/02/26. This was informed by Supdt.
