After seeing the elephant lying dead on the roadside in the morning, the villagers informed the Reamal Forest Department, following which a team of forest officials including Range Officer Niranjan Dharua and Forester Pradeep Satapathy reached the spot and started an investigation into the matter. A large crowd of locals also gathered at the scene to see the elephant’s carcass.

While the exam cause of the death of the elephant is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the pachyderm died after coming in contact with an electric wire set up by the farmers to protect the crops.
