GMDC -GVT Launches Mega Eye Care Campaign for 3,000 Students in Angul’s Chhendipada Block

Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation (GMDC), through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm, the Gramin Vikas Trust (GVT), has launched a free eye check-up and spectacle distribution program for students in the project and peripheral areas of the Baitarani West Coal Block under Chhendipada block.

The program was formally inaugurated on Friday at Chhendipada High School by Miss Kasturi Sha (IAS), Block Development Officer (BDO) of Chhendipada, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Among other dignitaries present were Dr. Mahamilan Murmu, Chief Medical Officer of Chhendipada Community Health Centre; Mr. Shatrughna Pradhan, Block Education Officer and Headmaster of Chhendipada High School; Mr. Sudipta Pradhan, Sarpanch of Chhendipada Gram Panchayat; and senior officials from GMDC.

The Vision Spring Foundation (VSF), a Delhi-based organization, is conducting eye examinations, while GMDC-GVT is providing full support and coordination. The initiative aims to identify and address vision problems among school students and teachers in the Baitarani West Coal Project-affected areas, ensuring that those in need receive free corrective spectacles.

According to GMDC-GVT officials, the campaign will cover around 3,000 students from 21 schools in the region. Through this initiative, GMDC-GVT aims to improve eye health among rural students, thereby enhancing their academic performance and overall well-being.
