Heavy rainfall in Cuttack causes severe waterlogging, vehicular moments affected

Cuttack: Heavy rainfall in Cuttack City has caused severe waterlogging in various areas of the Silver City and massively affected normal moments of vehicles today afternoon. As predicted by the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, thunderstorm with heavy rainfall occurred in Cuttack City this afternoon. Due to extremely heavy rainfall, the rainwater got mixed up with drain water and caused severe waterlogging on the road. Vehicular movement was massively affected as waterlogging was witnessed on road in many localities of the City especially in Badambadi, Roxy Lane, Raushapatna, Pithapur, Nuapada and Buxibazzar. Even the rainwater was seen entering some house of the local residents. Taking a serious note of the waterlogging on the road that are causing inconvenience to the local residents and the commuters, the Cuttack Municipality Corporation (CMC) soon swung into action and engaged dewatering pump sets to discharge water from the locality. Meanwhile, the local residents of the city urged the concerned administration to take necessary action well in advance to prevent re-occurrence of such waterlogging on the road as the rain season in Odisha has just started.
