Mayurbhanj: In a shocking incident the helper of a vehicle allegedly axes the driver of the vehicle to death following a dispute over the money to purchase chicken. The incident took place in the Gahalamunda village under Jharpokharia Police Station limits in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha yesterday night.The accused helper has been identified as Guru Govinda while the deceased driver has been identified as Amruta Mohanta.As per the police complaint, Amruta Mohanta works as a driver in a vehicle and Guru Gobind as the helper. Yesterday evening, Guru Gobind returned from work and brought chicken from the shop.While the meat was being prepared for cooking, there was a fight between him and the driver over the money for the meat. Guru Gobind got angry and fatally attacked Amruta with an axe. Accordingly, Amruta was killed on the spot.Following the crime, while the accused fled the scene, the family of the deceased and the locals blocked the National Highway No. 49 demanding the arrest of the accused immediately.The road blockade was lifted after the accused was promised to be arrested immediately.Later, police arrested the accused from the forest near the village. The accused will be forwarded to the court, informed Jharpokharia police.
