India, UK sign ambitious free trade pact as PM Modi meets Keir Starmer

New Delhi, 24/7: India and the UK sealed a free trade agreement eliminating tariffs on products ranging from cars to alcohol, finalizing a deal between two major economies at a time when US President Donald Trump’s tariff policies continue to disrupt global trade.

Broadcasters on Thursday aired footage showing UK Business and Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds and his Indian counterpart, Piyush Goyal, signing the agreement at a ceremony near London also attended by UK Chancellor of the Exchequer Rachel Reeves and Indian Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar.
