The second installment of the Kantara franchise- Kantara Chapter 1, a prequel of the film is slated for a theatrical release on October 2, 2025. Ahead of its trailer release on September 20, the film has managed to create a lot of hype.While audience is awaiting the release after the huge success that the first part of the movie gained, the makers have left no stones unturned to make sure it becomes a hit.Rishab Shetty’s devotional action drama in 2022 took the cinegoers by storm and almost everyone loved the film.Reports suggest that the film has already sold the rights for its OTT release at a whopping Rs 125 crores which is the budget of the film. Conceptualised during the Kadamba dynasty era by Hombale Films and director and actor Rishab Shetty, the Kannada language film is set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada.Rishab also won the prestigious National Award for Best Actor for ‘Kantara’. Written and directed by Shetty, ‘Kantara’ became a pan-India hit in 2022.On receiving a National Award for the film, he said, “This has been possible because of my entire team. I am just the face of the film, it is all because of their hard work. The production house, the DOP, the technicians, it is all because of them.”
