Today i.e on 16.01.2026, a short while ago, Dr. Sumanta Kumar Patel, Medical Officer, CHC Kaniha, Dist-Angul has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance inside CHC campus, Kaniha while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.49,000/- in lieu of grant of incentive to CHOs (Community Health Officers). The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered from the possession of accused Dr Patel and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations linked to Dr. Patel from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS Case No- 02 dt. 15.01.2026 U/s 7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against the accused Dr. Patel. Investigation is in progress
