Modak missing at Puri Srimandira: Preliminary probe suggests allegation not true, says SJTA Chief Administrator

Puri: In the matter of the allegation about missing Dasamula modaks in Srimandira of Puri in Odisha, the Law Minister has sought report from the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the SJTA Chief Administrator Arabinda Padhee has said that as per the preliminary investigation, the allegation has been found as not true. Padhee said that this is all about secret rituals of Lord Jagannath which should not be discussed in public. He even urged via the media personnel that the matter should not be publicly discussed because this is about the secret rituals of the Lord.  However, issuing a clarification in the said matter, Padhee further said that as per preliminary investigation the allegation is not true. However, it will be probed. CCTV footages will also be analysed, he added. The SJTA Chief Administrator said that the initial investigation did not confirm the incident. The Daitapati Niyog secretary has taken 313 Dasamula modaks. When any Baidya Sevaka deposits such offering at the Garada of the Srimandira, no employee of the Shrimandir administration or the garada touches it. Hence, nobody from the Administration or Garada counts it. However, as the Badagrahi of Lord Balabhadra has given a complain on writing, the matter will be investigated and action will be taken if anyone is found guilty. It is to be noted that earlier today Haladhar Das Mohapatra, the Badagrahi of Bada Thakura at Srimandira alleged that 70 out of the 313 Dasamula modaks were missing. The modaks are offered to the deities.
