Odisha Exports 91,930 MT Marine Products In 2024–25, Earns Rs 4,708 Cr Annually

Bhubaneswar: Odisha exported 91,930 metric tonnes of marine products in the 2024–25 financial year, generating approximately ₹4,708.08 crore in annual revenue, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development Minister Gokulananda Mallick informed the Assembly on Wednesday.Replying to a query by Congress MLA Tara Prasad Bahinipati, the minister said marine exports from the state primarily originate from coastal districts including Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri and Ganjam, as well as areas surrounding Chilika Lake.A variety of marine products—including shrimp, fish, squid and cuttlefish—are exported to major global markets such as the United States, China, Japan, European nations and countries in Southeast Asia, he said.The minister added that exports are routed mainly through Paradip Port, besides ports in Kolkata and Visakhapatnam, along with air cargo facilities at Biju Patnaik International Airport.Providing further details, Mallick said the state produced an average of 11.92 lakh metric tonnes of fish during 2024–25. Over the past two years, Odisha has earned ₹8,664 crore in revenue from fish and marine product exports, reflecting the sector’s growing contribution to the state economy.
