Odisha Police Conduct Multi-District Cattle Smuggling Raids, Rs 50L Cash Seized

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police on Tuesday carried out extensive raids across the Eastern Range, targeting organised cattle smuggling operations in Mayurbhanj, Balasore, and Bhadrak districts. The multi-district operation resulted in the seizure of cash worth Rs 50 lakh, along with a significant quantity of gold and silver, and several vehicles used for illegal cattle transport.Eastern Range DIG Pinak Mishra said the raids began early in the morning and were being conducted at 32 identified locations.“A total of 18 platoons were deployed for the operation, including 8 additional SPs, 17 DSP-rank officers, 25 Inspectors, and 67 SI and ASI officers. The scale of the operation reflects the organised nature of the cattle smuggling network,” he said.DIG Mishra added that firearms and other weapons were recovered at certain locations, further indicating that the smuggling activities were highly structured. Around 12 persons have been detained so far in connection with the case. Counting of the seized valuables is ongoing, and police will announce the total value once the process is complete.“Strict action will be taken as per law against those involved in these illegal activities,” DIG Mishra said, underlining the police’s commitment to curbing organised cattle smuggling in the region.
