Odisha Vigilance arrested Subal Kumar Sahu today for crop insurance embezzlement amounting to Rs 19,80,255.
Sahu served as Ex-Secretary of Dahunda Service Co-operative Society under Bhogarai Block in Balasore district before authorities dismissed him from service. He faces charges of misappropriating government funds during the financial year 2014-15.Sahu manipulated official records and extended crop insurance benefits to ineligible members of the society. Odisha Vigilance officials conducted a thorough probe and arrested him today. They forwarded him to the court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Balasore. Investigators registered Balasore Vigilance PS Case No 03/2026 under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. The probe continues to uncover further details and identify any other involved parties.The case highlights serious irregularities in the implementation of government crop insurance schemes at the cooperative level.
