Operation Garuda to be intensified: Police IG Himanshu Lal.

SUBARNAPUR — Operation Garuda has been intensified to prevent smuggling of ganja through Subarnapur district, informed IG of Northern Zone Police Himanshu Lal at a press conference held at the district police headquarters. IG Shri Lal further said that between 1st and 25th of this month, 10 ganja cases were registered in various police stations of Subarnapur district and 13 quintals of 40 kg 291 grams of ganja were seized. In this, 10 people were arrested and 4 two-wheelers, one three-wheeler, 4 four-wheelers and 6 mobile phones were seized. Similarly, 3 ganja cases have been registered in Balangir district. In this, 3 quintals of 35 kg ganja were seized. Four accused have been arrested in these three cases. Similarly, a total of 57 cases have been registered in Subarnapur district between January 1 and August 25. In this, 36 quintals of 58 kg of 697 grams of ganja have been seized and a total of 81 accused involved in these have been arrested. In all these cases, 38 two-wheelers, one three-wheeler, 10 four-wheelers, 2 trucks, 73 mobile phones and Rs 20 lakh 22 hundred have been seized. Similarly, 172 bottles of cough syrup have also been seized. IG Police Shri Lal informed that strict action will be taken against those involved in ganja smuggling. Subarnapur Supdt.
