The Odisha government withdrew its directive that linked fuel supply to Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC).Officials submitted an affidavit in the High Court clarifying that petrol pumps cannot deny fuel to vehicles without a PUCC.Authorities explained that petrol pumps may advise customers to obtain PUCC, but enforcement remains the responsibility of transport and police departments. The government instructed modifications in the Vahan portal to reflect the updated policy.Motorists expressed relief after the withdrawal, as the earlier directive faced widespread criticism and legal challenges. Citizens argued that denying fuel created unnecessary hardship and confusion.
