A tragic incident unfolded in Sakusinga village under Harabhanga police limits in Boudh district when an 11-year-old boy died after a venomous snakebite on Saturday night.The victim, Alok Naik, son of Dilip Naik, was sleeping at home after dinner when a poisonous snake bit him around 11 p.m. His family rushed him to Puruna Cuttack hospital by 108 ambulance. Doctors referred him to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital due to his critical condition. Sadly, doctors declared him dead upon arrival.Authorities sent the body for a postmortem, after which it will be handed over to the family. The sudden death has cast a pall of grief over the village. Alok belonged to a poor family, and the loss has devastated his parents.Villagers gathered to console the family and demanded immediate government assistance. They urged the district administration and forest department to provide financial support as per existing norms for snakebite victims.Residents stressed the need for awareness programs and better medical facilities in rural areas to handle snakebite emergencies.
