Keshav Maharaj became the first South-African spinner to take 200 test wickets. He reached this milestone on the second day of the first match against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.The 35-year-old spinner has been playing test cricket since nine years. over the years, he has grown into the team’s lead spinner in the five-day format. He achieved this feat when he dismissed Zimbabwe’s Craig Ervine in the 34th over, stumped by Kyle Verreynne.Keshav Maharaj is the South Africa’s highest wicket taker among bowlers. The spinner now has 202 wickets from 59 tests with 11 five-wicket hauls and one 10-wicket match haul. He also has 631 wickets from 166 matches in first-class cricket.South Africa’s highest wicket-taker in test history is Dale Steyn. He is followed by Shaun Pollock and Makhaya Ntini.Meanwhile Australia batter Steve Smith remains optimistic about recovering in time to make his return from injury for the second Test against the West Indies in Grenada, as per the official website of International Cricket Council.The veteran joined up with his teammates in the Caribbean on Sunday and is expected to take part in full practice on Tuesday in an attempt to return to the side that won the opening Test against the West Indies by 159 runs.
