Three minor sisters were found dead in the early hours of Wednesday after they allegedly jumped from the ninth floor of a residential apartment in Bharat City Society under Tila Mod police station limits in ghaziabad, police said. The incident occurred around 2 am in Tower B-1 of the housing complex. The deceased have been identified as Nishika (16), Prachi (14), and Pakhi (12). Residents alerted the police after the incident caused panic in the society.The girls were rushed to the Joint Hospital in Loni, where doctors declared them dead. According to ACP Shalimar Garden Atul Kumar Singh, a window in one of the rooms of the flat was found open. The room reportedly housed a small temple, and investigators are examining the sequence of events that led to the incident.Police said handwritten papers were recovered from the apartment and have been sent for examination as part of the investigation. Officials are also probing the family’s background and the circumstances surrounding the deaths.Preliminary findings suggest that the sisters had not been attending school since the COVID-19 pandemic, and the eldest was reportedly enrolled in Class 4. Police are also looking into information suggesting possible excessive use of a gaming application, though officials said no link has been officially established so far. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause and circumstances of the deaths. Meanwhile, mental health experts have stressed the importance of monitoring children’s emotional well-being. Consultant psychologist Dr Sachidanand Nath said excessive dependence on digital platforms for emotional satisfaction can sometimes impact mental health, particularly among children and adolescents.
