TPNODL Hosts Felicitation cum Training Programme for “Urja Sakhis” in Keonjhar Circle

Keonjhar, August 21, 2025: TP Northern Odisha Distribution Limited (TPNODL), a joint
venture of Tata Power and Government of Odisha, organised a Felicitation cum Training
Programme for “Urja Sakhis” engaged in Metering, Billing and Collection (MBC) activities in
Keonjhar Circle. The event, held at Zilla Sanskruti Bhavan, Keonjhar, brought together more
than 150 Urja Sakhis from Keonjhar, Joda, and Anandpur divisions.
The programme, designed as a blend of capacity-building training and a rewards-and-
recognition ceremony, acknowledged the significant contributions of Urja Sakhis towards
efficient billing and revenue collection across the divisions.
The event was graced by senior officials including Shri Joydip Roy, Chief – Commercial &
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shri Dillip Kumar Sahoo, Head – Corporate Social
Responsibility (CSR), Shri Rashmikant Behera, Superintending Engineer (SE) – Keonjhar, Shri
Sanjib Kumar Jena, Superintending Engineer (SE) – commercial, Shri Subhajyoti Das, Head –
MRBD & RCG, Shri Ashwini Kumar Mohanta, Executive Engineer (EE) – Anandapur Electrical
Division (AED), Shri Minaketan Samal, Executive Engineer – Keonjhar Electrical Division (KED)
and Smt. Rajalaxmi Mallick, Executive Engineer (EE) – MRT, along with Sub-Divisional
Officers (SDOs) and Junior Engineers (JEs) from Keonjhar, Joda, and Anandpur divisions.
Urja Sakhis who demonstrated outstanding performance in meter reading, billing, and
collection were felicitated and commended by the dignitaries. A special brainstorming
session, led by Shri Dillip Kumar Sahoo, Head – CSR, engaged Women Self Help Groups
(WSHGs) and Divisional Managers. The WSHGs shared practical insights and innovative ideas
for strengthening billing, revenue collection, and enhancing consumer satisfaction. The
officials encouraged division and section teams to extend proactive support to Urja Sakhis
while appreciating their valuable suggestions.
Adding a creative touch to the programme, the Urja Sakhis staged a short play emphasizing
electrical safety, accurate metering, billing discipline, and the benefits of digital payments.
Through such initiatives, TPNODL continues to empower women at the grassroots level,
while strengthening its outreach and improving customer service delivery in northern
Odisha.
