Two arrested for allegedly defrauding OAS officials of Rs. 4 lakh by impersonating vigilance officers

Subarnapur, ,12/12: A senior OAS officer has been accused of cheating by impersonating a Vigilance officer. Brother- in- law has been arrested for cheating him of Rs. 4 lakh. It is learnt that the Vigilance officer and Rourkela police have jointly raided and arrested them. The arrested accused are Ganesh Prasad Nanda of Mendhamal in Birmaharajpur, Subarnapur district and his relative Pradeep Kumar Panda. The accused, impersonating a Vigilance officer, threatened a senior OAS officer. They threatened to implicate him in a Vigilance case if he did not pay Rs. 4 lakh in two installments. A complaint was filed with the New Vigilance. The OAS officer concerned was scared as the name of the vigilance officer was appearing in the mobile number ( true caller ) of the accused. Yesterday, a joint team of Odisha Vigilance and Rourkela Police arrested two accused from Birmaharajpur on charges of cheating and extorting money through threats. A case has also been registered in this regard at Bonai police station. There are multiple complaints against the two accused Ganesh Prasad Nanda and his relative Pradeep Kumar Panda.
