Burla/Sundergarh, July 15, 2025: TP Western Odisha Distribution Limited (TPWODL), a joint venture
between Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, is making significant strides in improving power
reliability and infrastructure in rural and industrial belts of Sundergarh district. Two major 33KV feeder line
projects— one in Subdega and the other in Hatibari with a combined investment of Rs. 7.2 crores from
TPWODL.
33KV Subdega Feeder Line
The 33KV Subdega Feeder Line Project, connecting Karamdihi PSS to Subdega PSS, is a ₹4.6 crore initiative
under the Subdega section of the Sundergarh Electrical Division (SED) of TPWODL. This project involves
building a new 16 circuit-kilometre (Ckm) line with 232 sq.mm All Aluminium Alloy Conductor (AAAC)
and 13-meter RS Joist poles, along with the upgradation of 2 km of an older feeder section.
The existing 55 sq.mm Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) line prone to overloading and
frequent tripping, especially in forest zones is being replaced to address persistent power supply challenges.
The new feeder will serve Subdega PSS, which supplies electricity to Balisankara and Kinjirikela PSS.
This upgrade is set to benefit around 20,000 consumers, including residential households, farmers, and small
industries, by ensuring more stable and reliable power. It is expected to not only improve daily life but also
support economic development in the region.
33KV Lindra to Nuagaon Megalift Line
The second project, costing Rs. 2.6 crores, involves a new 9 Ckm 33KV line connecting Lindra PSS to the
Nuagaon Megalift point under the Hatibari section Rajganpur Electrical Divison (RED) of TPWODL. This
new line will supplement the existing power supply route from Koel Nagar PSS via Chhend GSS, which had
limited capacity and reach.
By establishing an N-1 redundancy and creating a ring main system connecting 33/11KV PSSs at Koel Nagar,
Lindra, and Nuagaon, this project ensures reliable and uninterrupted power. The improvement will directly
benefit approximately 1,200 lift irrigation points and over 15,000 domestic and commercial users.
Further, the new infrastructure will support the upcoming industrial park at REUN, which has a proposed load
of 3.3 MVA. The project is crucial for enabling sustainable agricultural growth and boosting industrial
prospects in Nuagaon Block—known for its large base of farming and small-scale industries.
“At TPWODL, our mission is to deliver dependable electricity to every corner of Western Odisha. These two
projects mark a major step toward building resilient and future-ready infrastructure for both rural and
industrial needs,” said Mr. Parveen Verma, CEO, TPWODL.
