Jharsuguda, Odisha 9 January, 2026: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium
producer, has launched ‘Agni Jagrukta Abhiyaan’, a monthly safety awareness
programthatextends the company’srigorous safety culture beyond the workplace and into the
homes of employees and business partners. Through focused training sessions and safety
demonstrations, the initiative reflects the company’s belief that safety excellence comes
fromrobust systems combined with continuous awareness, preparedness, and confidence, both
at work and at home.
The Agni Jagrukta Abhiyaan initiative seeks to empower employees and their families with
practical knowledge on essential domestic safety aspects such as fire incident prevention, safe
use of LPG cylinders, electrical safety, and overall home safety. A key highlight of the initative is
thelive fire safety demonstrations, where participants are trained toidentify fire hazards,
operatefire extinguishers, and respond effectively during emergencies. Family members
activelyactively join these sessions, making them highly interactive and practical.
The inaugural awareness session was conducted in the presence of senior safety experts from
Vedanta Aluminium and its business partners, including Debabrata Sarkar, EHS Head – STEAG
and Vinod Mishra, Consultant to Project Director -STEAG, along with several employees and
their family members.The initiative concluded with a ceremony to appreciate the enthusiastic
participation of families, further reinforcing a sense of collective ownership of safety practices.
Speaking about the initiative, C. Chandru, CEOVedanta Jharsuguda, said,:

reaches every home associated with Vedanta Jharsuguda. By conducting this program every
month, we aim to build long-term awareness, confidence, and resilience within our community.”
The Agni Jagrukta Abhiyaan adds to several initiatives undertaken by Vedanta Jharsuguda to
ensure a robust safety-first culture within its operations. The plant is home to an all-women
firefighting team called Agnivahini comprising of over 100 members andalso features several
safety parks designed to introduce employees to fundamental aspects of plant safety.In
addition, regular mock drills are undertaken with expertbodies such as the Odisha Directorate of
Factories and Boilers, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the Odisha State
Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA).
By institutionalizing the Agni Jagrukta Abhiyaanas a monthly program, the company is creating
a lasting movement, one that builds awareness, strengthens preparedness, and safeguards
entire families. This initiative stands as a powerful testament to Vedanta’s commitment to
protecting lives and nurturing resilient, safety-conscious communities.
