The Waltair Division of East Coast Railway celebrated Samvidhan Divas (Constitution Day) on Wednesday with great enthusiasm, commemorating the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949. This year marks the 76th Constitution Day, observed with the theme “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Samman” (Our Constitution, Our Honour).
A central function was organised at 11:00 am in the Divisional Railway Manager’s Office, Waltair, along with simultaneous events across the Division. The celebrations reflected the Division’s commitment to reinforcing the constitutional values that guide the nation.
The programme at the DRM Office was presided over by Divisional Railway Manager Shri Lalit Bohra, in the presence of ADRM (Infra) Shri E. Santharam, ADRM (Operations) Shri K. Rama Rao, Sr. Divisional Personnel Officer Shri Jusuf Kabeer Ansari, Branch Officers, and staff from various departments.
As part of the ceremony, DRM Shri Lalit Bohra led the collective reading of the Preamble of the Indian Constitution, reaffirming dedication to the principles of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. He also addressed the gathering and spoke on the importance of constitutional values in day-to-day life and public service.
“Constitution Day 2025 reminds us that the ideals laid down by Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and the members of the Constituent Assembly continue to serve as the bedrock of Indian democracy,” Shri Bohra said. He highlighted the significance of the Constitution coming into force on 26 January 1950, establishing India as a sovereign, democratic republic.
The event concluded with a renewed pledge by the officers and staff to uphold constitutional ethics and contribute responsibly towards the nation’s governance framework.
