15-Year-Old Migrant Boy Electrocuted in Visakhapatnam, Body Still Stuck Four Days Later

A tragic incident has shaken Rayagada district after a 15‑year‑old migrant worker from Bedapadar village died of electrocution in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.The deceased, identified as Kamal Lochan Majhi, son of Kadu Majhi, had left for Visakhapatnam a month ago to work as a construction labourer.On July 4, Kamal was engaged in household construction work when a short circuit struck, killing him instantly. Four days have passed since the accident, yet his body has not been brought back to his native village. The delay has left his family and community in grief and frustration.Local leaders and activists have stepped in to press for immediate action. Labour officer Bishnu Nayak, International Human Rights Protection Organisation district secretary Sadan Majhi, and Congress Panchayat president Tumbeshwar Naik have urged authoritiesto ensure safe repatriation of the body.The incident highlights the vulnerability of underage migrant workers who often face unsafe conditions far from home. Villagers expressed sorrow and demanded accountability, stressing that the boy’s remains must be returned without further delay.
