Punjab, 19/7 (AO Bureau):All is not well in Punjab Congress even after Navjot Singh Sidhu was appointed as Punjab State President by the high command. So far, no statement has come out from Chief Minister Amarinder Singh regarding this appointment, but now the atmosphere has become more heated with the news of a lunch. It is reported that Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has invited all the supporting MLAs, MPs and other leaders to a five-star hotel in Panchkula on Wednesday, but the new state president has not been called for this lunch. It is believed that the Captain is very angry after Sidhu was made the chief of Punjab Congress.
After Sidhu got the responsibility, lunch diplomacy is also being seen as a mobilization against the high command. Some Congress leaders from Delhi will also attend this lunch. Sources reveal that before the appointment, on Sunday, 10 out of 11 MPs from Punjab had written a letter to Sonia Gandhi to insist on Navjot Singh Sidhu not being made the state president. Sonia Gandhi also talked to all the MPs one by one on the phone, but despite this, the high command considered Sidhu suitable for this post. Recall that a few days ago, Sidhu had met Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Sonia Gandhi and only then it was believed that Sidhu could get a big responsibility.
Controversy is unlikely to end before the election
Sources reveal that after Sidhu’s coronation, the Punjab Congress has been divided into two parts. This confrontational situation may continue even further. Sources reveal that due to the displeasure of the Captain, the Congress may also have to suffer losses in Punjab.
Capt Amarinder Singh silenced Sidhu
Angry Amarinder Singh has kept silence after Sidhu was made the President of Punjab Congress. On one side there is a scene of sweets and fireworks at Sidhu’s house and on the other side there is silence between the Captain and his supporters. Pratap Singh Bajwa, who is opposed to Captain but opposed to making Sidhu the president, is also keeping silent. MP Gurjit Singh Aujla, who was present in the meeting held at Bajwa’s house, not only congratulated Sidhu but also urged everyone to take him along.
