New Delhi, 10/8 (AO Bureau):Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat could not perform well in the Tokyo Olympics and lost in the quarterfinals. Not only this, questions were also raised about his bad behavior in Tokyo. Now the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has taken action against him because of this. Vinesh Phogat has been provisionally suspended for her behavior at the Tokyo Olympics.
The wrestling federation is still waiting for Vinesh’s reply and after that the further course of action will be decided. Sources privy to the development told ANI, “Yes, he (Vinesh) has been temporarily suspended. We are waiting for their reply and then we will decide the further course of action.
Vinesh, who hails from Haryana, had gone from Hungary to play in the Tokyo Olympics where she was training under coach Volar Akos. Upon his arrival in Tokyo, he refused to stay in the sports village and train with other Indian team members. Asian and Commonwealth Games gold medalist Vinesh was also accused of indiscipline.
Medal hopes were being raised from Vinesh Phogat in Tokyo, but she returned home empty handed. Her bronze-winning hopes were dashed when her quarter-final rival Vanessa Kaladzinskaya of Belarus lost in the semi-finals of the Tokyo Olympics. Vinesh had lost in the quarterfinals of the women’s freestyle 53kg event.
