Afghanistan situation tells us why CAA is needed: Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi,22/8:Since the capture of the Taliban in Afghanistan, all the countries are engaged in getting their citizens out of the troubled country safely. India is also continuously bringing back citizens. On Sunday, India operated two flights and about 222 people were brought back to India. Meanwhile, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, referring to the Afghan crisis, said why CAA i.e. Citizenship Amendment Act is very important for the country.

The Union Minister shared the news of those coming back to India from Afghanistan by tweeting and wrote that the latest incident in our unstable neighborhood and the way Sikhs and Hindus are going through bad conditions there shows why the Citizenship Amendment Act is necessary for the country. Is. Let us tell you that in the CAA, there is a proposal to give Indian citizenship to minorities like Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, Christians and Sikhs from neighboring countries.

Significantly, in the Citizenship Amendment Act, there is a proposal to give citizenship to the people of six minority communities of Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Pakistan. A person seeking citizenship must have lived in India for at least 11 years.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, a special aircraft of the Indian Army reached Hindon airbase carrying 168 passengers. Several former Afghan MPs were also present in this party. All these people thanked the Indian government for their evacuation from Afghanistan. Along with this, another plane on Sunday reached Delhi in the morning carrying 87 passengers.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said that Indians stranded in Afghanistan were first taken from Kabul by an Indian Air Force aircraft to the capital of Tajikistan, Dushanbe, and then on Sunday morning that plane took off for Delhi.
