New Delhi, 2/11:Narendra Modi’s announcement of achieving net zero of greenhouse gas emissions by 2070 at the COP 26 climate summit in Glasgow has taken the world by surprise. This is because India has refused to show commitment to this goal with steadfastness. After all, what is Net Zero and what is needed to achieve this goal.
What is net zero?
Net zero means that any country that generates carbon dioxide or greenhouse gas is completely absorbed using natural solutions or any modern technology. Since carbon dioxide is the only greenhouse gas that can be easily removed from the atmosphere, net zero also indicates that the country is becoming carbon neutral.
The mathematics of achieving Net Zero is very simple, planting a lot of trees, trees absorb carbon dioxide, this process is called photosynthesis. Planting more trees will ensure that emissions levels are stable and more carbon dioxide will be absorbed from the atmosphere. If this process is not adopted then it will be difficult to achieve the target of net zero.
