UP, 20/2: Defense Minister Rajnath Singh told News18 in Lucknow on Sunday that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “80 vs 20” remark should not be seen through the prism of Hindu and Muslim. During this interview, he gave his views on all aspects related to the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections like the performance of BJP and the attack of opposition parties.
On Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s “80 vs 20” remark, he said, he does not remember in what context Yogiji made this statement, but it would not be right to see it through the lens of Hindu and Muslim. Perhaps Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has meant the popularity of Modi ji in comparison to the opposition parties. We should not give it a Hindu-Muslim angle.
Regarding the BJP’s position in this time’s Uttar Pradesh elections, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “The wind direction in UP is very clear, the BJP’s wave is so strong that no one should have any doubts. Yogi ji’s popularity has reached new heights in the state. We are once again going to form the government in UP. We (BJP) not only protect Hindus, but also work for the development of all sections of the society.”
On the anti-incumbency wave, Rajnath Singh said, “Anti-incumbency is not a factor in UP. In the year 2014, Modi government was formed in the country with full majority, then in 2019 we came to power by winning more seats than before. There is no such thing as an anti-incumbency wave for us. There is only pro-incumbency here and the same is going to happen once more in UP too.”
