Chilika ,23/5:Commerce & Transport (Com) Department, Government of Odisha have introduced a new safety scheme called “SAHID BAJI ROUT NOUJATRA SURAKSHA YOJANA” for distribution of above lifesaving equipments.
As per the Scheme, the lifesaving equipment (Lifebuoy, Life Jacket and Fire Extinguisher) will be procured and distributed among the passenger boat owners as one time assistance on subsidy (95%) to the private boats/ launch operators/ owners and free of cost to Government of Odisha & its PSUs operated boats/ launches.
For this purpose, lifesaving materials viz:7,000 nos Lifebuoy, 35,000 nos. Life Jacket and 1,595 nos Fire Extinguisher are being procured which will be distributed in phased manner among the boat owners.
In this context, today i.e., on Dt.23.05.2023, a distribution ceremony was arranged at Badakul, Balugaon in which the lifesaving equipments were distributed among 276 nos. of boat owners of Khordha District by Smt. Tukuni Sahu, Hon’ble Minister, Commerce & Transport and Water Resources.
In this ceremony the Principal Secretary to Govt. & Special Secretary to Govt., Commerce & Transport Department, Collector & District Magistrate, Khordha , Superintendent of Police, Khordha and Director, Ports and Inland Water Transport, Odisha were also present. The owners were requested to follow safety measures during navigation and register their boats as per Odisha Boat Rule-2004.
