Bhubaneswar, May 28: Two books on veterinary sciences, authored by faculty members of the Institute of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (IVSAH)– a constituent institute of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), were released by Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, Founder President of SOA, here on Tuesday. One of the two books, titled ‘Nutritional Biochemistry for Veterinary Excellence: A Holistic Approach’, has been jointly written by Dr. Yora Reena, Dr. Juli Chakma and Dr. Divyaprakash R. Choravada, all three working as Assistant Professors in the institute. The book is a comprehensive guide designed to enhance the understanding of nutritional biochemistry in the context of veterinary science while offering a holistic view of how nutrition impacts animal health. The other book, titled ‘Exam Special: Your Perfect Exam Friend’, has been authored by Dr. Deepak Kumar Chaurasia, also an Assistant Professor, for students. Expressing his happiness over the efforts of the four faculty members, Prof. (Dr.) Nayak said that the four teachers had joined SOA from four different states of the country which reflected the diversity of the growing university. Dr. Reena is an Assistant Professor in Animal Nutrition who earned her Doctorate in Animal Nutrition from the ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal in 2023. She had completed her post-graduate degree from the College of Veterinary Science under Assam Agricultural University in 2018. Dr. Chakma got her Ph.D in Animal Nutrition from the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI) in 2023 after pursuing her post-graduate studies at the Central Agricultural University in Imphal in 2020. She is a graduate from the College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry in Tripura. Dr. Choravada, who holds a Ph.D in Animal Biochemistry from the IVRI, did his post-graduation in Veterinary Biochemistry at the Junagadh Agricultural University in Gujarat in 2018. Dr. Chaurasia, who is from Chhattisgarh, completed his undergraduate studies from the Durg Veterinary College. He did his MVSc and Ph.D at the Odisha Veterinary College under Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) in Bhubaneswar.

The session, held in Jharsuguda, focused on the promotion of grassroots sports culture

Jharsuguda, Odisha; May 27 th , 2024: Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of
aluminium, recently hosted an interactive session with MV Murali Krishna, the coach of the
India Para Badminton Team, focusing on promoting grassroots sports and leveraging sports
for community development. Mr. Krishna has trained critically renowned badminton athletes
like Saina Nehwal, PV Sindhu, Sai Praneet, and Satwik Sairaj.
The event, held at Vedanta's state-of-the-art township in Jharsuguda, featured basic
badminton training for children and an interactive session with Mr. Krishna, where he spoke
on his journey and shared insights on cultivating perseverance and ethics through sports.
The session culminated in a goodwill badminton match between the senior management of
Vedanta Jharsuguda and witnessed significant participation from employees and township
residents.
In alignment with its commitment to fostering grassroots sports and providing rural youth with
broader opportunities, the company is actively nurturing local hockey and football talent in
Jharsuguda and has organized several events, including the District Mo-School Hockey
Tournament, a friendly tournament preceding the Men’s FIH Hockey World Cup 2023 and
annual football tournaments for the local community. Additionally, Vedanta Aluminium has
sponsored the construction of a new administration building for the Jharsuguda District
Athletics Association. Vedanta's townships are equipped with modern playgrounds and
sports facilities, encouraging both young people and residents to engage in sports and
maintain an active lifestyle.
