Minister reviews work of the School & Mass Education Department “Good Education” is the priority of the state government

The standard of education will be enhanced in all government and
government aided schools in Odisha. In the initial stage, Shri Nityananda Gond,
Minister, S&ME, STSC Development, M&BC Welfare Department, SSEPD
reviewed it and emphasized on infrastructure, educational environment, and
school management. A review meeting has been held today in the conference hall
of the School and Mass Education Department. Additional secretaries, joint
secretaries, academic advisors and senior officers were present along with
Commissioner cum Secretary. The Minister was briefed by Miss Aswathy S.,
Commissioner cum Secretary on various schemes, programmes, initiatives and
activities undertaken by the Department.
Minister Gond said that “Good Education” in all government and
government-aided schools is the priority of the state government and various
programs will be taken in this direction. It has been decided to review
government and government-aided schools which have been closed due to
various reasons.
It has been decided to implement aspirational curriculum in every
school with emphasis on coding, project-based curriculum, and life skill-based
learning, linguistic creativity. Along with this, the minister has instructed the
departmental officers to ensure that the Study Materials should reach in every
block of the district on time in the coming academic year. The review meeting
discussed how the students can get better quality education along with the
development of the infrastructure of primary schools. A decision has been taken
to speed up the various works initiated by the department towards the
establishment of FLN classrooms. Asset Management Software is being
developed which will bring a big change in the education sector.
Under the S&ME Department, Odisha Adarsh Vidyalaya (OAV)
will be given a new looking. Similarly, Minister Gond emphasized on
strengthening residential facilities for students. On the basis of the local area, the
approach is being taken to convert the high schools (HS) into higher secondary
schools (HSS). Web publishing of e-content will be done for the convenience of
all students in higher secondary education. These textbooks will be made
available through the official website.

Various plans are being taken up in the coming days to train the
teachers. Teacher training institutes will be made more efficient. He invited
various proposals from the departmental officials on how to solve the problems
of the teachers. Along with developing the infrastructure of this institution,
auditoriums will be constructed in each District Institutes of Education and
Training (DIET). The institute will be converted into a DIET of Excellence.
Minister Gond has discussed with all the officials in this review meeting that all
efforts are being made to provide the best quality education to the students in the
state and organizing various workshops to develop the skills of teachers and
students.
