Tikiri/Rayagada: — Utkal Alumina, a subsidiary of Hindalco Industries Limited of Aditya
Birla Group, concluded its World Nutrition Week celebration on September 12, 2024, at the
Paikakupakhal Anganwadi Center (AWC). The event, which was inaugurated on September
5, 2024, centred around the theme “Nutritious Diet for All.” It brought together community
leaders, pregnant and lactating mothers, and their young children for a focused day of raising
awareness about nutrition and promoting healthy dietary practices.
Approximately 45 women and 35 children under the age of five participated in this impactful
event. The celebration featured several engaging activities designed to promote healthy eating
habits and provide valuable information on nutrition.
During the World Nutrition Week celebration, attendees had the opportunity to explore a
variety of nutritious food options through an informative display. This exhibit not only
showcased an array of healthy foods but also highlighted the benefits of each item, promoting
balanced dietary practices. The display aimed to educate participants on the importance of
incorporating diverse, nutrient-rich foods into their diets, thereby encouraging healthier
eating habits.
Adding a competitive and engaging element to the event, a lively quiz competition was held
to test participants' knowledge on nutrition. The quiz covered various aspects of dietary
health and provided a fun, interactive way to reinforce learning. Winners of the competition
were awarded prizes for their correct answers, making the educational experience both
enjoyable and memorable.
In addition, an enlightening awareness session was conducted by CSR representatives in
collaboration with Anganwadi Workers (AWWs). This session offered practical advice and
strategies for improving diet and nutrition. It aimed to equip participants with valuable
information on making healthier food choices and implementing effective dietary practices in
their daily lives.
The event was spearheaded by Ms. Niharika Sahoo, Head of CSR Mines along with Mines
CSR team at Utkal Alumina, who emphasized the company’s commitment to promoting
community health and well-being through such initiatives.
