Berhampur: Police busted a duplicate hair oil manufacturing unit at Lane No-4 of Shastri Nagar area of Berhampur city in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Sunday late evening.
Acting on the complaint lodged by a branded hair oil manufacturer, Badabazar police conducted a raid and busted the adulterated hair oil manufacturing unit that was using the name, logo and copyrights of a Kolkata-based branded coconut hair oil company.
During the raid, the cops seized a huge quantity of raw materials and machines used to prepare the duplicate hair oil. The police also seized several packaging items.
According to the complaint lodged by the branded hair oil manufacturer, they came to know about four to five months ago we got to know that the brand, logo, design, colour and copyrights of Shalimar was being used to make and sell fake oil. However, the company was unaware where the oil was being manufactured. After the complaint was lodged around a month ago, police started an investigation and busted the duplicate oil manufacturing unit.
The fake oil manufacturing unit had kept everything same except the oil. While the branded company prepared the oil with original coconut and in natural process, the duplicate oil was being prepared with liquid paraffin.
