harsuguda, 24 Sept: The 4th Rehabilitation and Peripheral Development Advisory Committee (RPDAC) meeting for NLC Talabira Thermal Power Plant in Taraikela was held on Tuesday at the District Council Sadbhavna hall. The meeting focused on rehabilitation, resettlement, compensation, and environmental development in areas affected by NLC projects.
The meeting was chaired by Sachin Ramachandra Jadhav, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Northern Division), Sambalpur. Key attendees included Jharsuguda MLA Tankadhar Tripathy, representatives of Sambalpur MP, Naukri Naik,Jharsuguda Zilla Parishad Chairperson Tulabati Minj, Sambalpur Zilla Parishad Chairperson,IGP of Northern Range Sambalpur, Himanshu Kumar Lal, Jharsuguda District Collector Aboli Sunil Naravane, Sambalpur District Collector Sidheswar Baliram Bodar, Jharsuguda ADM (PD & R&R) Brajbandhu Bhoi, Jharsuguda SP Smit P Parmar, and Sambalpur SP Mukesh Kumar Bhamu.
During the discussions, concerns were raised regarding timely resettlement and appropriate compensation for families displaced by NLC’s acquisition of land in Hirma and Kumbhari villages. The committee emphasized the importance of utilizing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds for infrastructure improvements, including internal roads, drainage systems, drinking water supply, and the development of playgrounds and places of worship in affected areas.
The project authorities were instructed to ensure livelihood provisions for the displaced families and to prioritize environmental development activities in the Thelkoloi area. A deadline of fifteen days was given for the supervision of these tasks by the relevant departmental officers.
Representatives from project-affected areas and district-level officials participated in the discussions, ensuring all concerns were addressed.
