Bhadrak: In a major success to the police in stopping illegal cattle trade, a truck laden with cows has been seized in Bhadrak district of Odisha, said reports on Thursday.According to reports, the Old Bazaar police in Bhadrak apprehended a pickup truck near Santhia while it was illegally transporting cows. According to the police, there were 14 cows in this pickup truck.Meanwhile, the police have arrested two cattle mafia members involved in the illegal transportation of cows. The Old Bazaar police left the 14 cows that were rescued in the cowshed.Recently in February a cattle-laden vehicle had overturned in Nayagarh district of Odisha on the National Highway. According to reports, the incident had taken place near the Daspalla Police Station at Jogi Bandh square in Nayagarh District.There were more than 50 cows in the container which overturned. As many as 13 cows have allegedly died in the accident. The cattle was being illegally transported, said reliable reports. The driver and the helper of the container fled after the accident took place. The locals heard the sound of the accident and reached the spot and immediately informed the police and the fire department.
