12 more Maoists killed in ongoing joint operation of Odisha-Chhattisgarh police

Malkangiri: As many as 10 Maoists have been killed in a massive joint operation of Odisha-Chhattisgarh security personnel early on January 21 morning.Acting on a tip off, the inter-state operation was launched by Odisha and Chhattisgarh police and CRPF personnel in the border areas of Nuapada district of Odisha and Gariabandh district of Chhattisgarh. The attack was launched on January 19. The exchange of fire is still in progress.On Monday, two female Maoists were encountered. On Tuesday early morning 10 more Maoists were shot. Large quantity of fire arms, ammunition and IEDs including 1 SLR were recovered by the security forces. The SOG forces have said that more number of casualties can bee reported.In 2024, 6 Maoists were killed, 8 have been arrested and 24 Maoists have surrendered. In 2025, till date, 13 Maoists have been been killed in Joint Interstate operations with Chattisgarh Police and CAPF. According to reports, two more Maoists were killed in the ensuing attack. Police personnel say that the number is likely to increase more.
