Odisha Governor Reviews Higher Education, Emphasizes NEP 2020 Awareness

Bhubaneswar, 17/2: Odisha Governor Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati on Monday stressed the need for greater awareness about the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 among faculty members. He made this remark during a review meeting of the Higher Education Department at the mini conference hall of Raj Bhavan.

The meeting was attended by Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj and senior officials, including Commissioner-cum- Secretary Arvind Agrawal.

During the meeting, Arvind Agrawal presented a detailed overview of the higher education scenario in the state through a PowerPoint presentation. He highlighted the current status of universities, government and government-aided colleges, enrollment figures, and the challenges faced by the sector. The presentation also outlined the government’s strategic plans to improve education quality, enhance infrastructure, and expand digital learning.

Governor Dr. Kambhampati pointed out that many faculty members are still not fully aware of NEP 2020. “They should also be made aware,” he emphasized, calling for training programs to ensure smooth implementation of the policy.

The discussion also covered faculty recruitment, curriculum modernization, and industry-academia collaboration. The government aims to strengthen university governance, promote research, and encourage skill-based learning to better prepare students for future careers.
