Gunupur:(Correspondent):- World Encephalitis Day was observed at SDH Gunupur by the students of the School of Nursing, GIET University, with the aim of raising awareness about encephalitis, including its causes, symptoms, treatment options, vaccination, and preventive measures.
The event featured insightful educational sessions led by SDMO Dr. Pradeep Kumar Panda, who discussed the causes and risk factors of encephalitis, highlighting the importance of early diagnosis and intervention. Medical Officer Aishkanta Panda elaborated on the available treatment options, including the pathophysiology and symptoms of encephalitis, emphasizing the need for timely medical attention, supportive care, vaccination, and effective precautionary measures to prevent its spread. Asst. Professor K. Ratan Kumar provided a detailed explanation of the medical aspects of encephalitis.
The event was graced by the presence of Asst. Professor K.Y. Jyothi and Tutors Pranati Sahu and Swarna Prabha Rout, who actively supported the awareness campaign.
The students conducted an engaging health education campaign, using creatively designed posters to educate patients, nursing officers, and visitors about encephalitis—covering its causes, symptoms, treatment, vaccination, and preventive measures. They also interacted with patients and their families, empowering the community to recognize symptoms early and take necessary preventive actions.
