Bhubaneswar: Police busts bike lifting gang; 12 vehicles along with bunches of duplicate key seized

Bhubaneswar: The Lingaraj Police busted a bike lifting gang by arresting three persons and seizing 12 vehicles along with bunches of duplicate key from their possessions. The Lingaraj Police under the leadership of ASI Amarendra Swain started a probe after getting a written complaint from one Nihar Ranjan Nayak on January 30, 2025. In his complaint, Nayak had alleged that he went to the Lingaraj temple to offer prayers after parking his bike near Lingaraj Hata. However, he did not find his motor cycle after his return. Later, he filed a theft complaint at the Lingaraj Police Station. During investigation, police verified several CCTV cameras and based on a reliable information got to know the involvement of one Nilanchal Dihudi. Immediately, he was arrested and a total of six bikes along with bunches of bike key were seized from his possessions. During interrogation, Dihudi admitted to have stolen the motor cycle of complainant from near Lingaraj Hata. Similarly, he along with accused Krushna Chandra Sahoo and Gangadhra Jani have stolen other motor cycles from said Lingaraj Hata and other places of Kharvelnagar Police Station, Bharatpur Police Station, Capital Police Station, Tamando Police Station areas of Bhubaneswar city and disposed off the same to other persons. The stolen motor cycle in above case and other cases have been seized from their possession. All the recovered motor cycles have been seized. The accused persons have been arrested under different sections of the U/s-303(2)/317(4)/3(5) Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and will be forwarded to the Court.
