JAJPUR (Correspondent) : On the auspicious occasion of Raksha Purnima, the Odisha Government disbursed the 5th installment under the ‘Subhadra’ Yojana. At a state-level programme held in Nayagarh, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Mohan Charan Majhi directly transferred financial assistance of over Rs. 5,000 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of more than one crore eligible women beneficiaries across the state.
On this occasion, the district-level programme for the disbursement of the 5th installment of the Subhadra Yojana was organised on a grand scale at Gautam Buddha Sanskriti Bhawan in Jajpur.
Attending the programme as the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Jajpur Lok Sabha MP Dr. Rabindra Narayan Behera said that the Subhadra Yojana is not merely financial assistance but a powerful means of empowering the women of Odisha and making them self-reliant. He said the government is fulfilling its commitment by directly transferring the assistance to the bank accounts of every eligible woman.
He said it is a matter of pride that around 4.77 lakh women of Jajpur district have received the 5th installment. This financial assistance will provide women with greater strength to move forward in society and strengthen their families. He further said that unlike the past, when funds meant for beneficiaries were allegedly diverted before reaching the poor, the DBT system has ensured that Rs. 5,000 under the Subhadra Yojana reaches women’s bank accounts directly with just a click.
He assured that continuous efforts are being made to ensure that no eligible woman in Jajpur district is deprived of the scheme. In the 5th installment, 17,958 new women beneficiaries from the district have been included, which he described as clear evidence of the government’s commitment. All eligible applicants will be included in the scheme in phases.
He also urged women beneficiaries to invest the financial assistance received under the Subhadra Yojana in Self-Help Groups (SHGs), small businesses and cottage industries to strengthen their livelihoods. He said that when a woman becomes empowered, the entire family progresses towards development.
A total of 4,77,400 beneficiaries across 10 blocks and two municipalities of Jajpur district have received the 5th installment directly in their bank accounts. During the 4th installment, 4,59,442 women had benefited, while an additional 17,958 new beneficiaries have been included in the 5th installment and received the financial assistance directly in their accounts.
According to block- and municipality-wise data, 57,942 women in Dharmasala Block, including 1,684 new beneficiaries, and 57,733 women in Barchana Block, including 1,530 new beneficiaries, received the installment.
Similarly, 53,967 women in Dasarathpur, including 1,495 new beneficiaries; 46,654 in Binjharpur, including 1,476 new beneficiaries; 46,172 in Rasulpur, including 1,525 new beneficiaries; 45,124 in Jajpur Block, including 1,011 new beneficiaries; 42,648 in Korei, including 1,018 new beneficiaries; 41,938 in Bari, including 1,633 new beneficiaries; 35,954 in Sukinda, including 1,503 new beneficiaries; and 32,162 in Danagadi Block, including 1,314 new beneficiaries, received the funds.
Among the municipalities, 8,259 women in Jajpur Municipality, including 1,801 new beneficiaries, and 8,847 women in Vyasanagar Municipality, including 1,968 new beneficiaries, received the benefits of the 5th installment.
The state government’s flagship Subhadra Yojana has played a significant role in strengthening the financial position and self-reliance of women in Jajpur district. As the money has been transferred directly into bank accounts through DBT, an atmosphere of happiness has spread among women across the district.
District Collector Shri Ambar Kumar Kar, Additional District Magistrate Shri Judhishthir Naik and Security Officer Smt. Sarojini Das attended the programme as distinguished guests. They said that the government’s objective is not limited to providing financial assistance to women but also to transform them into self-reliant entrepreneurs capable of reaching the level of lakhpati and crorepati entrepreneurs.
District-level officials, thousands of women from various blocks and municipalities, members of Self-Help Groups and representatives of the media attended the programme and contributed to its success.
The programme was conducted under the direct supervision of District Project Coordinator Shri Jogesh Nayak, with the cooperation of all employees of the District Social Welfare Department.
At the beginning of the programme, on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Purnima, women tied Rakhis on the wrists of the Chief Guest and distinguished guests, conveying the message of the unbreakable bond between brothers and sisters.
