Baripada: Reaffirming the Odisha government’s commitment to providing permanent housing to every eligible urban family, Housing and Urban Development Minister Dr. Krushna Chandra Mahapatra on Saturday distributed work orders under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) – PMAY-U 2.0 to 61 beneficiaries in Baripada.The work orders were handed over during a special programme organised by the Baripada Municipality, marking another step towards achieving the government’s goal of ensuring ‘Pucca Ghar’ for every eligible family.Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mahapatra said providing safe and permanent housing to poor and middle-class families in urban areas remains one of the state’s top priorities under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.The dream of owning a permanent house should become a reality for every family in the State. The Government is making concerted efforts to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out of the housing security net,” the Minister said.Congratulating the 61 beneficiary families, he expressed hope that their new homes would bring greater security, dignity and an improved quality of life.Dr. Mahapatra said the PMAY-U 2.0 scheme is playing a vital role in promoting inclusive urban development and socio-economic empowerment by ensuring that the benefits of welfare programmes reach eligible beneficiaries in a transparent and efficient manner.He also reiterated the government’s resolve to strengthen urban housing infrastructure and extend housing assistance to all deserving families across the state.The programme was attended by Baripada Municipality Chairperson Krushnanda Mohanty, Vice-Chairperson Simarani Das, Executive Officer Deviprasad Rout, councillors, senior municipal officials, local public representatives and the beneficiaries along with their family members.
